Where “M” means “Motorsport.”
There are large amount of sport variants of automobiles out there that have been tuned and modified from the factory for better performance, but none are as popular as the M-models from BMW. The history of the M-GmbH models began in the late-1970s with the iconic M1 supercar and has continued with performance variants to this day.
The M-models have always been something special as they pack even more power along with other goodies that make them go even faster around a race track. The red, navy, and blue colors are always sought-after because they bring the company’s motorsports expertise to the street and allow drivers to experience the best dynamics available.
The following infographic takes a look at many of the important M-models through the 35-year history of the brand from the M1 and E12 M535i to the F13 M6 Coupe and upcoming M4 that we all cannot wait to be unveiled.
Everything is better with the ///M.
