Get your checkered flags out for 2015!

For years, the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Series has been using the Gallardo as the go-to racer for the single-make series around Europe, Asia, and North America. Now that the Gallardo is no longer produced and the Huracán LP 610-4 trying to fill its shoes, the automaker is working on creating a racing version for the single-make series.

Called the Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo, the new racer will be built specifically for the race track and designed to handle all the stresses experienced during races. Giorgio Sanna, the Chief Test Driver of Automobili Lamborghini Research and Development Department, will spearhead the transformation from road car to race car for the Huracán alongside official Lamborghini Squadra Corse Test Drivers, Adrian Zaugg and Fabio Babini.

“The first shakedown is always a very special moment. I’ve followed the development phase step by step in Sant’Agata Bolognese, and we are all enthusiastic about this very important moment. We have full confidence in both Zaugg and Babini, as well as in the young drivers who will contribute to refining the new car. The new Huracán Super Trofeo will ensure Lamborghini a key role in International motor sport,” said Sanna.

Right now, Lamborghini is light on the details for the new Huracán Super Trofeo. Expect it to have bigger spoilers, advanced aerodynamics, a greater cooling capacity, beefed up hardware, and a minimalistic approach to performance with some exciting graphics to top it off.

The new Huracán Super Trofeo will make its debut in the 2015 Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Series in Europe, Asia, and North America. The 2015 season will see it compete alongside the Gallardo Super Trofeo in separate classes.
