The 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia are underway and athletes from around the world are competing for gold. Even the Jamaican bobsled team is there after some help from the global community, but their sled isn’t nearly as nice as the one that Porsche created with the help of Maria Sharapova. The successful Russian tennis player lived in Sochi and is helping to promote the Winter Olympics being held there by giving tours, interviews, posing for pictures, and presenting custom-tailored cars. Sharapova is also a Porsche Brand Ambassador and to go along with the start of the games, her and the German automaker has presented the Porsche Panamera GTS by Maria Sharapova.
The new Porsche Panamera GTS by Maria Sharapova is a custom-designed vehicle showcasing the wide array of options that can be configured using the Porsche Exclusive program along with other unique options. The Panamera GTS was designed by Sharapova, who has quite a resume when it comes to designing an array of products.
“Creating and specifying a very personal Porsche Panamera was such an exciting undertaking. It opens the door to a whole new design sensibility and allowed me to bring my own personal aesthetic. I count myself not only as an athlete, but also as a designer – I’ve designed full collections of luxury accessories, apparel, and even candy for years,” said Sharapova. “I never thought I would have the opportunity to add a car – especially a Porsche – to that repertoire. It’s an ingenious melding of the design world with automotive personalization.”
The sportiest, most athletic model in the Panamera lineup besides its Turbo and Turbo S siblings boasts the same tuned 4.8-liter V-8 engine with 430 horsepower and 383 lb-ft. of torque, enough to send the four-door coupe to 62 mph in less than 4.5 seconds with a 178 mph top speed. All of the sporty styling features are still worn by the Panamera GTS by Maria Sharapova model, but there’s a personal touch added by the tennis player.
The Porsche Panamera GTS by Maria Sharapova wears a full coat of white paint with high gloss and high gloss black trim and styling throughout the exterior. Black LED headlights including the optional Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus (PDLS+) stare ahead while tinted LED taillights add a sporty touch at the rear. The athleticism of both the car and professional tennis player is reflected with new additions like the black tailpipes of the sport exhaust system and black 20-inch Panamera sports wheels.
Inside, Sharapova selected a few luxurious touches to the four-door coupe. The Porsche Panamera GTS by Maria Sharapova features an extended leather trim with crème decorative stitching, front and rear headrests with embossed Porsche crests, and arm rests wearing the “Panamera GTS” logo. Greeting her and other passengers are carbon fiber door sills bearing “Maria Sharapova” lettering. Facing her in the driver’s seat is a set of white instrument dials to match the exterior body color and a white key.
The Porsche Panamera GTS by Maria Sharapova isn’t for sale, but was made to showcase the wide range of possibilities and configurations available with the Porsche Exclusive program.
