Time to get serious and go off-road.
There’s big and there’s bad off-roaders, and then there’s the ‘Fade to Black’ RAM 3500 that’s serving up a gigantic helping of lifted diesel muscle. Built by the team at Off Road Outlaws, the ‘Fade to Black’ RAM comes packed with power and jaw-dropping looks.
After having the first truck that he built be featured on the cover of ‘8-Lug Magazine’, owner, Donald Fenton, decided to raise the bar and create a truck that would steal the spotlight at the 2015 SEMA Show in Las Vegas.
And boy did it steal the show.
What started as a 2014 RAM 3500 Crew Cab Longbed transformed into a massive off road beast with loads of upgrades and goodies designed to handle any kind of terrain thrown its way in style.
The mighty 6.7-liter Cummins turbodiesel engine also gained quite the boost in power. The ‘Fade to Black’ RAM 3500 was equipped with a new TS Performance Stryker Module, S&B cold air intake, and MBRP 4.0-inch performance exhaust, which results in an earth-moving estimated 550 horsepower and 1,200 lb-ft. of torque being channeled through the stock transmission, transfer case, and custom one-piece aluminum driveshaft.
The visual and off-road performance starts with the chassis on the ‘Fade to Black’ RAM 3500. An 8.0- to 10.0-inch lift up front comes armed with a four-link coil setup with dual Fox shocks, dual BDS Suspension steering stabilizer, and adjustable track bar. At the rear, the same 8.0- to 10.0-inch lift can be achieved as well. Here, the leaf springs are paired with custom 8.0-inch air bags, Fox shocks, and BDS Suspension traction bars all decorated with bright blue paint.
Tearing up the dirt, mud, or whatever else dares to get in front of it are Centerline LT1 wheels measuring 12.0 x 20 at the front and rear axles. Each LT1 wheel features a special black finish with vibrant blue spokes and edging, exposed hardware, and a custom airbrushed BDS Suspension logo on the lip for that special eye-catching detail. Beefy 40/15.5/20 Toyo MT tires provide all the traction the ‘Fade to Black’ RAM 3500 will ever need.
Quite a bit of attention was also paid to the exterior of the truck. A custom grille with BDS Suspension logo is protected by an ICI guard and proudly sits up front above the mean, Magnum bumper. A new Smittybilt 12,000-lb. wireless winch is situated in an ICI custom cradle on the bumper so that the truck can pull large friends out of sticky situations.
Brawny Bushwacker pocket-style fender flares with exposed hardware lend a tough, mean look to the ‘Fade to Black’ RAM 3500 with Magnum/ICI steps sitting between. At the rear, a new Magnum/ICI bumper was installed while a Peragon aluminum bed cover tops the factory spray-on bedliner with CargoGlide bed slide. A Spyder Industries custom web headache, a custom-built roof rack, and complete de-badging completes the body upgrades. A pair of BDS Suspension logos with skills decorate each side of the ‘Fade to Black’ RAM 3500 as well.
Lighting the way is an array of LED lights. Custom LED headlights from LED designs stare ahead while Recon LED taillights glow red. Three 50-inch curved LED Designs light bars sit on the roof, two six-inch LED bars are cut into the tailgate, a 22-inch bar is on the bumper, and four 3-inch cubed LED packs have been installed up front. That’s enough to turn darkness into day.
Climb up and inside the ‘Fade to Black’ RAM 3500 and you’ll be greeted by seats wearing soft black leather embroidered with BDS Suspension logos. BDS Suspension logos can also be found in the door panels as well as airbrushed into the center console. For entertainment, a nine-speaker, Alpina audio system with subwoofer provides all the auditory pleasure you need.
The custom-tailored ‘Fade to Black’ RAM 3500 by Off Road Outlaws isn’t just a SEMA star but a head turner wherever it goes.
