Golf R who?
Volkswagen may have the potent Golf R in its arsenal that’s the most powerful version of the hatch available, but their biggest performance seller still is the GTI. The team at ABT Sportsline understands that and is giving their GTI customers a program to get excited about with the new GTI Dark Edition.
It may not have the same power output as its Golf R sibling, but the seventh-generation ABT GTI Dark Edition has plenty of power. The 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four cylinder gets a boost up to 300 horsepower, making for a quick 5.8-second 0-62 mph acceleration time. The engine also spits out some exciting tones thanks to a black chrome-plated quad stainless steel rear pipe setup.
“Our black ABT is really something and at the top once again“, said CEO Hans-Jürgen Abt. “Its superiority this “über-Golf” also derives from its dynamic properties, made possible by the new sport-type stabilizers and especially the smart sport-type ABT height adjustable suspension kit. So the dark ABT Golf VII GTI Dark Edition is in reality a beacon of light!”
The chassis was also a point of emphasis on the ABT GTI Dark Edition. The ride is more dynamic and lower thanks to a new height-adjustable suspension kit and a sport stabilizer. For a better stance both in terms of performance and aesthetics, the GTI was equipped with a set of five double-spoke CR Sport wheels in a 20-inch diameter with 235/30 R20 sport tires.
Probably the most commanding aspect of the ABT Sportsline GTI Dark Edition is the new body kit. The new ABT Sportsline kit includes a new front spoiler, grille, headlight covers, side skirts, side mirror caps, trunklid attachment, and rear skirt set to optimize aerodynamics and add some style. The kit boasts special red highlights to contrast the dark-colored body. ABT Sportsline also added new “Dark Edition” emblems on the C-pillar, trunklid, and the headrests inside.
The new ABT Sportsline Volkswagen GTI Dark Edition is currently available for all seventh-generation GTI models. Pricing has not been released.
