A few basics lead to a lot of power.
The Mercedes-AMG GT S is right on the border of the super car threshold. It has the looks and style, but the performance is arguably just short of being considered as one of the elite. Thanks to the new RENNtech R1 package, there is no more debate: it is a super car.
The foundation of the RENNtech R1 Mercedes-AMG GT S package is the ECU tune for the M178 twin-turbocharged, 4.0-liter V-8 engine. A variety of parameters from ignition, mapping, boost pressure, and more have all been altered to create an addition 65 horsepower and 110 lb-ft. of torque by itself.
But that’s only the start of the fun. As part of the RENNtech R1 package, the Mercedes-AMG GT S also gains a new set of high-flow sport air filters that increase airflow for performance gains across the entire rev range.
The final touch of the RENNtech R1 package is the custom-designed ceramic-coated stainless steel exhaust system. The ceramic coating helps to reduce temperatures emitted by the exhaust, especially in the engine bay. New high-flow, 200-cell catalytic converters help to reduce backpressure even further and let that V-8 shout a devilish roar.
After the entire RENNtech R1 package has been installed, the M178 engine in the Mercedes-AMG GT S produces an impressive 611 horsepower at 6,100 RPM and 620 lb-ft. of torque at 3,250 RPM. That’s super car territory and more than enough to turn heads on the road.
The new RENNtech R1 package for the Mercedes-AMG GT S (C190) is currently available as an entire tuning program or as separate upgrades for those that crave more power.
