We are in the midst of a muscle car war.
The MPG crisis has been grabbing headlines as manufacturers downsize engines, introduce new technology, and integrate new hybrid and electric systems in their vehicles. Then there are the few renegades that just don’t give a damn like the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat. Now, there’s a new kid on the block looking to slug it out with the 707-horsepower, gas-guzzling monster – the 717 horsepower HPE700 Supercharged 2015 Ford Mustang by Hennessey Performance.
The 5.0-liter Coyote V-8 that powers the new-generation Ford Mustang was given a healthy dose of steroids thanks to Hennessey Performance. With the new supercharger upgrade and other modifications, the new HPE700 Mustang can throw down some serious acceleration and power numbers, and blow away the best muscle cars and supercars of today.
“We’re very excited about the 2015 Ford Mustang and so are our performance-minded clients,” said John Hennessey. “Our HPE700 Supercharged upgrade will elevate this Motown Missile’s performance to rival some of the fastest European sports cars. We can’t wait to share our specially tuned Mustang with the world!”
Sitting atop the 5.0-liter V-8 engine is a 2.9-liter, Roots-type supercharger feeding the four-cam engine with 7.25 PSI of boost pressure. Fresh air is sucked in through a larger throttle body and HPE air induction system while an upgraded fuel pump and injectors throw in just the right amount of gasoline. After all the necessary gaskets are installed, a new engine management system ensures that all of the components work properly and create a whopping 717 bhp at 6,600 RPM and 632 lb-ft. of torque at 4,400 RPM. If that figure isn’t enough to put a smile on your face, the optional stainless steel exhaust system will surely make you melt.
All that extra power is good for a white-knuckle 3.6-second 0-60 mph sprint and an 11.2-second quarter-mile time at 131 mph. Take that Dodge and Chevrolet.
“This thing is uncaged, absolutely nuts,” said Hennessey partner Don Goldman. ”We’re thrilled to offer a 2015 Mustang that will outperform some of the fastest cars currently offered, at a lower price point.”
As part of the basic package, the HPE700 2015 Ford Mustang is also given new HPE700 and supercharger exterior badging, new floor mats, and a serial-numbered engine and dashboard plaque. Customers that want even more performance can opt for the CarbonAero pack with new carbon fiber front splitter, side sills, rear diffuser, and lip spoiler. Hennessey also offers their H10 lightweight 20-inch wheels wearing Michelin Pilot Super Sport 2 tires for added grip and/or new Brembo 15.1-inch front rotors.
The new 2015 supercharged HPE700 Hennessey Performance Ford Mustangs will be available through the 37 AutoNation dealerships in the United States for $59,500 including the base 2015 5.0-liter Mustang GT. Only 500 vehicles will be produced by Hennessey Performance for the 2015 model year and come with a three-year/36,000-mile limited warranty.
