Where insane is dull.
The famous scene from the 1984 rockumentary This is Spinal Tap features a scene where the character Nigel Tufnel shows the director, Marty DiBergi, his stage equipment, specifically the Marshall guitar amplifiers. Tufnel shows DiBergi the heads and how the knobs go up to 11 instead of the standard 10. Confused, Dibergi asks him if they are louder, to which he responds with “…if we need that extra push over the cliff, you know what we do? Eleven. Exactly. One louder.”
The upcoming Hennessey Performance Venom GT2 is 11; that extra push over the cliff that rockets you into some kind of unfathomable warp speed, turning your knuckles white and causing you to forget how to blink. It’s going to be that fast.
While the Venom GT2 has not been officially released, Hennessey Performance has provided us with some specifications that will make your eyeballs pop out.
The new Venom GT2 builds upon the “standard” Venom GT model that originally shook the super car world. A 7.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 is set to produce an astonishing 1,500 bhp using E85 fuel, giving it a power-to-weight ratio of over one-brake-horsepower-per-kilogram (2,743 lb curb weight), exceeding that of any hypercar currently available. Top speed will be set all the way back to 287 mph, making the 200 mph mark of other super cars seem slow. An optional seven-speed paddle shift transmission will be available to put all of that power to the rear wheels. Aerodynamics on the hyper car have also improved, with the drag coefficient being reduced from 0.44 to 0.42 Cd thanks to a redesigned roof, front air dam, and side mirrors. A new double bubble roof will also provide a bit more headroom and comfort for passengers that are willing to experience 1,500 bhp.
Hennessey Performance will debut its new Venom GT2 model in late 2013 after they let those incredible specifications sink in for a bit and blow our automotive world to smithereens. The American company is currently producing its 10th Venom GT model, so keep your eyes peeled for 250+ mph hyper cars.
