Like really, really fast.
We all knew that the new McLaren MP4-12C was going to be a fast car. It’s 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 sending power through the seven-speed dual clutch to the rear wheels was a recipe for success; we just didn’t think it would be this fast.
Thanks to the folks over at DragTimes, we can see just how fast this British super car really is. The MP4-12C is one of those cars that pulls up to the strip, gives you a confident smile before setting off into another dimension and saying “See ya!” before you even have a chance to get out of first.
The 2012 McLaren MP4-12C that was raced has undergone the 2013 updates to the engine and transmission so that it was pumping out 616 horsepower instead of the 592 in the 2012 model. This helped the super car accelerate to 60 mph in 2.9 seconds, reach 100 mph in 5.9 and hit the 1/4-mile in 10.55 at 134.56 mph.
Now that’s REALLY fast for a production car.
