The 200+ mph supercar finally goes on sale.
The ultra-high performance Hulme CanAm Supercar is set for a limited production run of 20 on a first come, first serve basis. The roadster bears the name of Can-Am and Formula 1 World Champion Denny Hulme who passed away during the 1992 Bathurst 1000 race. Paying tribute to the racing legend, the Hulme CanAm Supercar combines superb craftsmanship and performance to deliver a pure driving experience on both the road and track.
To commemorate Hulme’s 1968 and 1970 Can-Am victories in Chevrolet-powered McLarens, Hulme uses a mid-mounted Chevrolet LS7 V-8. The 7.0-liter engine pumps out 600 hp and 442 lb-ft of torque, and is mated to a six-speed close-ratio CIMA manual transmission with sequential or paddle shift options. The roaring LS7 propels the CanAm to 62 mph in under 3.5 seconds and hits a top speed of over 200 mph – all in an open top roadster.
Weighing in at only 2,160 pounds, the Hulme CanAm is a light and nimble roadster that focuses on driving enjoyment. Both the chassis and body are constructed using carbon fiber composite due to its high strength and low weight. A double wishbone and pushrod suspension is used at the front and rear for precise handling on the track. To ensure immense traction, Pirello PZero Rosso tires are fitted to 8.5 x 19 front and 11 x 20 rear center lock alloy wheels. Behind the center lock wheels are four 362 x 32 mm ventilated discs and six-piston AP Racing calipers for unrivaled stopping power.
For customers of the Hulme CanAm supercar, Hulme ensures an unforgettable buying experience. After a fully refundable deposit of £10,000 (+/- 14,500 USD) customers will be provided with a private viewing and driving experience before or during the 2011 Goodwood Festival of Speed. All 20 cars will be hand-built to customer specification and numbered. Upon completion customers will receive a certificate of authenticity, a fully photographed portfolio of the car’s production, and a 1/8th scale replica in the exact specification of the order. Customers also receive two Air New Zealand Business Premier tickets to Auckland, New Zealand for a one-week luxury stay, during which customers will take part in the final fitting and receive road and circuit driving before final delivery.
All 20 of the exclusive Hulme CanAm are currently available to the first 20 customers for £295,000 (+/- 428,500 USD) plus taxes.
