Beating with the air-cooled heart of a 993.
There’s simply nothing like a classic, air-cooled Porsche 911. The feel, the character, the design, and the driving dynamics are second-to-none. There’s a reason that these classic cars are so highly sought-after and the team at KAEGE understands this. Their RETRO brand recently took a 1972 Porsche 911 F-series and brought it into the modern era without sacrificing its classic feel.
The 1972 Porsche 911 F-series is a quintessential Porsche through and through. KAEGE RETRO gave the vintage sports car a touch of new by cannibalizing a 993 Porsche 911. Parts such as the braking system, multi-link rear suspension setup, airbag, windshield wipers, air conditioning, and more were retrofitted to give the classic a more modern feel and better performance.
Sitting at the rear of the classic Porsche 911 is the 3.6-liter flat-six engine and six-speed gearbox from the 993 model, producing 300 horsepower. While that’s more than enough performance compared to its original output. That’s also combined with a low 2,365-lb. weight that comes from a lithium-ion battery and a handcrafted, painted carbon fiber body.
KAEGE RETRO didn’t stop there with bringing the 1972 Porsche 911 into the modern era. Both of the front headlights were fitted with Osram LED lights that retain the classic round shape while providing better illumination. New three-piece Fuchs-design wheels and KW coilovers lend to even better handling dynamics.
Inside, KAEGE RETRO gave the 911 an old-school ‘70s look with plaid upholstered Recaro seats and green leather trim, dashboard, steering wheel, and carpeting with contrasting cream white trim. Classic gauges and a retro-look shifter with brown knob lends to a classic appearance and feel. Even the radio and navigation has been transformed thanks to a Becker unit.
This 1972 Porsche 911 upgraded by KAEGE RETRO is just one example of what the German company is capable of doing with classic models. Customers can work with KAEGE RETRO to create a truly custom-tailored vehicle based on their specifications.
