Rough and tough with a soft interior.
The Land Rover Defender is one of the greatest off-road vehicles of all time, without question. It has a long history of conquering all kinds of terrain and getting itself out of incredibly difficult situations. With their latest creation, A Kahn Design wanted to highlight the Land Rover Defender’s capabilities through its design while comforting those inside with a wealth of custom-tailored luxury.
The new Land Rover Defender 2.2 TDCI SW 90 by the Chelsea Truck Company is built for going off-road. While it may be more than capable of driving through the crowded city streets in style, its home is traversing through the mud, dirt, and water off the beaten path.
The goal for the design team was to emphasize the Land Rover Defender 2.2 TDCI SW 90’s capabilities. The Fungus Green SUV instantly looks more muscular and robust thanks to the newly extended wheel arches in satin black and corresponding wide fenders with integrated vents and bolt apertures. The bigger wheel arches and fenders allow for the new 1948 Defend wheels measuring 8.0 x 16 to move up and down with ease. Staring ahead is a new front grille with stainless steel mesh while the same material is used in the side vents and hood vents. A Kahn prototype tailgate logo, oval tailgate logo, and prototype fender badges decorate the SUV while a Chelsea Truck Company spare wheel cover sits at the rear.
While the exterior of the Land Rover Defender 2.2 TDCI SW 90 may be built for the rough terrain, the interior is almost the exact opposite, as it’s designed for comfort and luxury. The front sport GTB seats and rear seating is covered in soft, quilted and perforated leather with special Harris Tweed inserts. The woolen fabric is used throughout the cabin and adorns the roof grab handles, instrument binnacle, rear door panel and handle, passenger dashboard top and grab handle, and rear passenger knee protectors to add a touch of style.
Drivers benefit from a single-spoke leather steering wheel and vented foot pedals in machined aluminum. Hard wearing floor mats also protect against dirt, mud, and anything else picked up while driving through the rough terrain while a fire extinguisher is standard for safety. The final touches of luxury are the Churchill time clock fascia in red with a matching tachometer.
The team at A Kahn Design is currently offering the Chelsea Truck Company Land Rover Defender 2.2 TDCI SW 90 as a complete vehicle. Customers can build their own model and have the unique option of project management during the entire process to create a truly custom-tailored motoring creation.
