The world of custom, coach-built vehicles is an exclusive place where membership is only attained by the rich and famous. Brands such as Pininfarina, Zagato, Bertone, and others have made their mark with these specially-designed vehicles, but a true British presence has been lacking. Now, A Kahn Design is proudly stepping into the coach-built market with the Flying Huntsman 110 WB 6×6 Concept named “Mission 1”.
Just like the new Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6×6, the new Flying Huntsman 110 WB 6×6 Concept is a six-wheeled version of off-road opulence and exclusivity packed with power. Traditional British craftsmanship with the modern design principles of A Kahn Design has led to a truly special creation.
Based on the Land Rover Defender 110, the Flying Huntsman 110 WB 6×6 Concept features a big, bold body. The hood of the SUV is extended by 400 mm while the rear cabin is 800 mm longer and 150 mm wider, leading to an increased overall length. The rear door was widened and the front doors lengthened to allow for better entry and exit. A full panoramic roof was installed from the B-pillars to the rear while the windshield rake has been increased. The exterior design is more aggressive and dynamic, and draws from the Chelsea Truck Company Defender models that have been so popular.
But the Flying Huntsman 110 WB 6×6 Concept’s beauty is more than skin deep. A GM LS3 6.2-liter V-8 engine will produce an estimated 430 bhp through a six-speed automatic transmission with tap shift control. A hi-lo ratio drive system with locking differentials ensures all six wheels will overcome any kind of terrain with ease. Lastly, a beefed up braking and suspension system is more than capable of handling any kind of driving style.
The Flying Huntsman 110 WB 6×6 Concept is only the beginning. A Kahn Design has plans for B4, B6, B6+, and B7 armored variants for maximum security up their sleeves. Up to five potential variants with four- and six-wheeled versions and hard-top and pickup options are also planned.
The new Flying Huntsman 110 WB 6×6 “Mission 1” will make its global debut at the A Kahn Design stand at the Geneva Motor Show.
