Battle of the hypercars.
The next-generation of hypercars are here and it’s a great time to be an automotive enthusiast. Two of the big boys are the Koenigsegg Agera R and the Porsche 918 Spyder. They both use different ways to go fast in some regards, but get the job done right – with a big smile on the driver’s face.
Let’s get the specs first. The Koenigsegg Agera R packs a 5.0-liter, twin-turbo V-8 with1,200 bhp at 7,100 RPM and 885 lb-ft. of torque at 4,100 RPM hitting the rear wheels. The Porsche 918 Spyder utilizes a naturally-aspirated 4.6-liter V-8 engine and two electric motors for a total of 887 horsepower and 940 lb-ft. of torque driving all four wheels. Both cars can break 200 mph and get there pretty damn quick.
On the Autobahn outside of Hamburg, Germany, a Porsche 918 Spyder gave chase to a Koenigsegg Agera R in what was a pretty epic showcase of speed. While the Porsche was behind the Koenigsegg during the whole chase, it still more than held its own against the Swede. The two cars reached 218 mph but had to pull back on their shenanigans because of traffic.
