In the past couple of years, Lamborghini has cranked out some serious limited-edition supercars that showcase the brand’s direction of lightweight performance and driving engagement. Cars like the Sesto Elemento and Veneno cut weight, upped power, and optimized aerodynamics but were only limited to a privileged few. The new Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 SV takes a great deal of the good stuff found on its two limited-production predecessors and makes it available to the “regular joe” customers of the supercars. Simply put, this is the most emotional and fastest series production model from Lamborghini, ever.
The new Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 SV wasn’t just about increasing power, adding on some exclusive parts and calling it a day; the new supercar was designed to be a raw, engaging machine that whitens knuckles and puts a smile on the driver’s face.

The naturally-aspirated 6.5-liter V-12 engine has been equipped with quite a few improvements compared to the standard model. The Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 SV has a new lightweight exhaust system that reduced backpressure and sends out an intoxicating scream at high RPMs. Both the Variable Valve Timing and Variable Intake System were optimized for improved torque at higher RPMs, while overall responsiveness was improved as a whole. The result is 750 PS (740 hp) at 8,400 RPM, 509 lb-ft. of torque at 5,900 RPM, and a maximum engine speed of 8,500 RPM.
The ‘4’ in the Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 SV name means that all four wheels are powered thanks to a Haldex Generation IV all-wheel drive system. A self-locking rear differential and electronic differential up front controlled by ESP allows for maximum grip in any situation. The seven-speed Lamborghini ISR gearbox helps to provide engaging shifts and control the fierce amount of power.
Thanks to the potent drivetrain and dedication to cutting weight, the Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 SV can accelerate to 62 mph in just 2.8 seconds from rest while 124 mph is reached in only 8.6 ticks of the clock. Top speed is set all the way back past 217 mph.
Power is only part of the equation with the Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 SV. The brands dedication to lightweight technology and materials have helped reduce weight by an impressive 110 lbs. over the standard Aventador model, for a total weight of 3,362 lbs. The serial-produced carbon fiber monocoque with lightweight aluminum frames are paired up with carbon fiber door panels, and rockers and fenders in SMC superlight. Carbon fiber is also used to create much of the new aerodynamic details, while lightweight materials dominate the minimalistic interior.
The goal for the supercar’s design was to improve downforce and aerodynamic efficiency without sacrificing the drag coefficient. Engineers and designers were able to increase efficiency by 150-percent and increase downforce by 170-percent over the standard Aventador model.
The large aerodynamic improvements on the Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 SV start with the more open front fascia that features a forward-stretched skirt and two wings, while the larger front air intakes help cool the brakes and provide a more aggressive look. The once movable air ducts are now fixed on both sides of the Aventador SV model to achieve maximum cooling efficiency.
At the rear, a large adjustable carbon fiber rear wing generates a great deal of downforce. Drivers can alter the wing’s position on the Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 SV in three different positions that change the aerodynamic balance of the car by up to 15-percent. Beneath the wing sits a large mesh structure that helps cool the engine bay and creates an exposed feel. The four-pipe lightweight exhaust protrudes from the center of the large diffuser and vertical fins. The final touch is an aerodynamically-optimized underbody to help keep the supercar stuck to the pavement.
The other part of the equation with the Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 SV was the driving dynamics. The emotional and engaging driving experience was improved upon with the addition of the adaptive Magneto Rheological Suspension (MRS) to the pushrod suspension. The MRS system instantly adjusts damping during cornering and improves the overall responsiveness of the supercar. This is supplemented by the electromechanical Lamborghini Dynamic Steering (LDS) that adjusts the steering ratio to the car’s speed and driving modes. The job of conquering the pavement falls on the lightweight forged wheels in matte black with optional center-locking setup. The staggered 9.0J x 20 front and 13.0J x 21 rear wheels wear slick Pirelli P0 Corsa tires measuring 255/35 ZR20 and 355/25 ZR21. Behind those sit six-piston front and four-piston rear brakes with carbon ceramic brake discs measuring 400 mm up front and 380 mm at the rear for unrelenting stopping power.
Dominating the cockpit of the Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 SV is a dedication to lightweight performance. The carbon fiber monocoque is exposed in the center tunnel and sills while carbon fiber makes up each of the sport seats that are upholstered in alcantara and Y-shaped leather inserts. For the first time on a production car, the Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 SV wears the brand’s innovative Carbon Skin material. The ultra-lightweight material is made from woven carbon fiber fabric with a specialized resin that makes it very soft, flexible, and durable. The innovative Carbon Skin was used to cover the inner roof and other parts of the cabin. Facing the driver is a new TFT instrument cluster with yellow color, light blue RPM shift indicator, and new G-Force indicator. As standard, the infotainment system has been deleted in the name of weight, but drivers can opt for the system at no-cost.
The new Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 SV will be available in six total colors with the featured being the specially-developed Rosso Bia with black alcantara. Customers can also tailor their car using the Lamborghini Ad Personam personalization program. The new Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 SV will hit the market in late spring of 2015.
