0-62 mph in less than three seconds.
The 2010 Paris Auto Show saw the unveiling of the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento Concept that broke free from the weight with its advanced materials and shocked the world with its performance capabilities. Things were a bit murky on whether or not the car would actually be put into production, but after some earlier reports and some confirmed rumors as of late, our dreams will be coming true.
The new Lamborghini Sesto Elemento hyper car will be an ultra-rare masterpiece of lightweight technology that weighs in at a mere 2,202 lbs (999 kg). Its mid-mounted engine will be the same one used in the Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera, displace 5.2 liters, and produce 562 horsepower (570 PS) and 398 lb-ft. (540 Nm) of torque mated to a six-speed automated manual gearbox. This gives the super car an astonishing power-to-weight ratio of 1.75 lbs. /horsepower and allows for a 0-62 mph acceleration time of just 2.5 seconds and a top speed of 322 km/h (200 mph).
Carbon fiber and other lightweight metals and materials are used in virtually every nook and cranny in the Sesto Elemento to contribute to the sub-1,000 kg weight. Even the interior features fixed carbon fiber reinforced plastic seats that are built to accommodate the size of the customer.
Only 20 units of the Sesto Elemento will be produced and tailored to each customer at the new Lamborghini Pre-Series Centre that builds all of the pre-production and concept cars for the Italian automaker. Pricing for each car is expected to cost approximately €2,000,000.
