Lots of interesting looks for the all-new IS.
Boring, bland, and dead-on reliable luxury were all hallmarks of the Lexus brand for years. Its cars started to become stale and they drew harsh criticism for their lack of character. The newest generation of IS has changed that dramatically with its new – and somewhat polarizing – styling. Now the brand is at the 2013 SEMA show with a host of custom-tailored 2014 IS models and looking to carve its way back into the minds of car enthusiasts.
There are six official 2014 Lexus IS models at the 2013 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas, ranging from the mild to the mind-boggling.
2014 IS 350 F SPORT by Rob Evans, DeviantArt winner, and VIP Auto Salon
Starting things off is the 2014 Lexus IS 350 F Sport by Rob Evans and VIP Auto Salon. The idea for the IS came from Rob Evans, winner of the Deviant Art and Lexus design contest. Evans designed a full exterior design concept that was built in just 10 weeks by the team at VIP Auto Salon. The 2014 Lexus IS 350 F Sport also features Takata Drift Pro Racing LE seats with a Drift III ASM green seatbelt harness, and Seibon carbon interior trim package for drivers and passengers to enjoy. A slick custom-mixed BASF Glasurit Ultra White paint is worn on the exterior along with the new body kit. The finishing touch is a new set of Nutek three-piece forged one-off wheels in a 10.5 x 20 front and 13.0 x 20 rear setup with Nitto Invo tires and hidden Brembo GT brakes.
2014 IS 340 by Philip Chase
Looking at the name of this particular IS model by Phillip Chase may raise a few eyebrows since there is no IS 340 in the current model lineup. But, there is when you put a 700+ horsepower 2JZ-GTE engine with a Garrett GTX3582R dual-ball bearing turbocharger under the hood! The engine also benefits from a full custom four-inch exhaust system, Brian Crower complete valvetrain and 3.4-liter stroker kit, and OS Giken Triple Plate TR-series clutch. This IS 340 isn’t all-go and no-show though. A Modellista five-piece lip kit, custom carbon fiber hood vents, and Sparco EVO 2 bucket seats custom-wrapped in leather with 9.0 x 18 front and 9.5 x 18 rear Advan TCIII wheels make sure that the IS 340 by Phillip Chase stands out on the road.
2014 IS AWD by Gordon Ting
Gordon Ting is looking to make a statement with his 2014 IS AWD. This model isn’t about overly flashy modifications, rather a clean and dynamic style. A GReddy exhaust system and air intake help in the power department while a TRD five-piece aerodynamic kit adds some sport to the exterior design. The chassis benefits from TEIN USA custom street Flex coilovers, Brembo high-performance GT brakes, and Rays Engineering Gram Lights – 57Xtreme with sticky Toyo Proxes T1 sport tires. Inside, it’s all about speed with a Sparco race harness restraints and R100 race seats in custom wrapped leather and full Evasive Motorsports custom safety roll cage and harness bar. On top, you’ll find a Limited Edition Carbon Fiber Road Bike by Lexus.
2014 IS 250 F SPORT by Paul Tolson and Gabriel Escobedo
Paul Tolson and Gabriel Escobedo teamed up for one tasty Lexus IS 250 F Sport. The entire car wears a sweet BASF Glasurit Orange Mercury and Galaxy Root Beer paint color that would go great with some vanilla ice cream for a Lexus IS float. An Air Runner Systems air ride suspension brings things close to the pavement and a new custom air intake and exhaust help the engine rumble. The upgraded stance is finished off with a new set of 9.5 x 19 front and 10.5 x 19 rear Wheel Works USA Emotion CR Kiwami wheels hiding a set of six-piston, 355 x 32 mm drilled and slotted Rotara Inc. brakes.
2014 IS 350 F SPORT by Seibon Carbon
Carbon fiber is the name of the game here with the 2014 IS 350 F Sport by Seibon Carbon. The company installed a new hood, trunk, fenders, front lip, side skirts, rear spoiler, roof spoiler, and then finished it off with some interior carbon fiber trim pieces. An Injen Technology custom intake and A’PEXi SPL suspension and exhaust further aid in driving dynamics while 8.5 x20 front and 9.5 x 20 rear Volk Racing G27 wheels make the IS 350 F Sport even sexier.
2014 IS 350 F SPORT by Vossen Wheels
Vossen Wheels chose the 2014 Lexus IS 350 F Sport to showcase their CVT Directional wheels. A vibrant Platinum Motorsport custom Lexus LFA Pearl Yellow paint adorns the entire car including the full Tommy Kaira full aerodynamic package. The 9.0 x 20 front and 10.5 x 20 rear Vossen CVT Directional wheels wear 245/30/20 front and 285/25/20 rear Nitto Invo rubber and hide a Brembo High Performance GT brake kit on both axles. Ensuring the wheels sit flush with the Pearl Yellow fenders is a set of RS-R Black-I Series coilovers.
All of the 2014 Lexus IS models will be on display at the 2013 SEMA Show until November 9th.
