Unleashing all sorts of hell on the dyno.
A while back, AMG engineers thought they could get together and create a mind-boggling high-performance version of the already-fast Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG by slapping on their Black Series seal of approval. The SLS AMG Black Series is the most hardcore supercar that the German company offered before production of the SLS AMG finally began to come to an end.
However, RENNtech wanted to work their own magic on the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series and did so with their new R1 performance package. The RENNtech Engineering branch in Germany gave the supercar a new set of headers, an exhaust with 200-cell catalytic converters, and an ECU software tune before throwing it on the dyno to see what the new Black Series could throw down.
Right from the factory, the SLS AMG Black Series churns out a hellish 631 horsepower and 468 lb-ft. of torque, launching the supercar to 62 mph in just 3.6 seconds and to a 196 mph top speed. After the R1 performance upgrades, the RENNtech SLS AMG Black Series spits out a thundering 675 horsepower and 500 lb-ft. of torque.
Plus, it sounds like it’s mad all the time. Sign us up for one.
