Adding a touch of motorsports DNA.
The Mercedes-AMG GT might be able to handle its own on the track, but it’s not a track-focused car; that’s the AMG GT R’s territory. But for those that want that racing touch for their road-going AMG GT, Luethen Motorsport has the perfect upgrade program.
Designed with performance in mind, the new Luethen Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT features a full carbon fiber aerodynamic styling kit that improves downforce and increases cooling. The CFRP kit includes a new front spoiler lip and splitter combo that work with boundary layer winglets and intake brows. The aggressive presence and character continues to the rear where a new adjustable spoiler wing sits above an underbody spoiler to improve overall aerodynamics even further. As an added touch, new side skirts calm airflow as it moves towards the rear. Customers can opt for a range of colors and finishes for the carbon fiber aerodynamics as an additional option.
The other noticeable visual upgrade on the Luethen Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT comes in the form of new bespoke forged wheels. The Luethen Motorsport Series-1 wheels measure 10.0 x 20 and 11.0 x 21 while customers can also opt for larger 12.0 x 21 wheels. Customers can order their forged wheels in an array of standard colors or with personalized finishes as well. Sticky 265/30 ZR20 and 305/25 ZR21 Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires provide loads of grip on the track or the street.
Instead of bringing a hardcore, back-breaking motorsport suspension to the Mercedes-AMG GT, Luethen Motorsport offers their sport springs to achieve a better balance of performance. These sport springs reduce the ride height and work with the factory dampers to improve handling.
“Our adjustable sport springs and the factory dampers make a good combination or fast road and the occasional track day,” said Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Markus Lüthen. “These sport springs are calibrated to work within the performance envelope of the factory active damping system so the driver can adjust the ride height without worrying about matching.”
The final – and arguably most exciting – part of the Luethen Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT program comes in the form of an additional ECU. The hand-built 4.0-liter, twin-turbocharged V-8 engine gets a healthy boost to 612 horsepower and 575 lb-ft. of torque with the ECU upgrade along with a 205 mph top speed.
The new Luethen Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT is currently available as a complete upgrade package or individual accessories. The German tuning company is also working on new BMW M4 and Mercedes-AMG C63 upgrade programs that will launch in the first-quarter of 2017 as well.
