Turning the M-powered Sports Activity Coupe into a Mansory-powered sportscar.
Mansory is in the process of an all-out Blitzkrieg with BMW models. Earlier the Swiss branch of Mansory unveiled a new tuning program for the BMW X5, giving the SUV a muscular body, refined interior, and powerful engine. The latest BMW to receive the Mansory touch is the X6 M Sports Activity Coupe, the half coupe, half SUV, half sportscar with almost no utility. Although the formula didn’t make sense to many when BMW unveiled the X6, it proved to be successful with over 100,000 in sales worldwide. Mansory has taken BMW’s recipe for success and added some sheer insanity to the mix, resulting in the Mansory-powered X6 M.
One of Mansory’s biggest goals was to give the X6 M an even more unique and powerful appearance than the stock X6 and X6 M. To do so, Mansory used high-tensile polyurethane (PU-RIM) and prepreg autoclave carbon for all of the bodywork to keep weight at a minimum. Up front, the X6 M wears a strikingly similar bumper with spoiler and large air intakes to the X5 Mansory previously unveiled. A carbon hood is installed to both shed weight and provide the engine with additional ventilation. Although the M-version of the X6 already boasts broad wheel arches, Mansory has decided to make them even wider, extending the front track by 70 mm and the rear by 80 mm. The widened arches flow seamlessly thanks to new side skirts that also provide better aerodynamics at high speeds. At the rear is a new bumper that mimics the design of the front fascia. A large diffuser is integrated into the bumper, flanked on both sides by twin trapezoidal exhaust pipes. For maximum downforce, Mansory has fitted carbon fiber spoilers on both the roof and rear trunk lid.
The brawny stance of the X6 M conversion package is completed with a new suspension and wheels. To fit in the larger wheel arches, Mansory has installed new M10 cast monoblock wheels dressed in a silver finish. The 23-inch wheels wear 315/25/R23 performance tires for better grip. From there, the ride height is lowered by 40 mm with the use of a progressively-wound sports suspension and adapted height adjustment, reducing the center of gravity for even greater agility.
Mansory’s X6 M conversion is not about looking fast, it’s about going fast too. The monster 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 that makes 555 horsepower stock produces an incredible 670 horsepower and 700 lb-ft. of torque after the Mansory upgrades. The drastic increase in power comes from a complete exhaust system with new exhaust manifolds and a re-tuned engine control unit. Acceleration to 62 mph drops to just 4.2 seconds and the top speed is increased to 186 mph, up from an electronically limited 155 mph stock.
Inside is more of what customers have come to expect from Mansory. The entire interior is built to customer specifications with unlimited combinations of alcantara, leather, wood, carbon, and aluminum trims matched with any electronic goodies by the in-house Mansory leather workshop.
The full kit for the BMW X6 M is currently available through the Swiss-based division of Mansory. The tuner is also in the process of developing a high-performance brake system to bring the 670-horsepower monster to a halt.
