Matte black madness.
Finishing a car in matte black paint can give it a menacing, aggressive, and sinister look that can be hard to achieve with other paint finishes. The Maserati GranTurismo is already the bad boy in the Italian automaker’s lineup, so why not make it even meaner with a coat of matte black paint and more power?
The new Anderson Germany Maserati GranTurismo Superior Black Edition is bold and beautiful. The entire coupe is covered in a matte black paint finish, as with all “Superior Black Edition” cars from the German tuner. Only the window frames, logo, and rear grille were given a glossy finish to contrast the matte paint. Both the front headlights and rear taillights have been given a slight tint to match the black theme of the car. But the car isn’t just about a fancy paintjob; it has been given a few aerodynamic upgrades to go along with the added power under the hood. A new front apron has been installed and features new carbon fiber air inlets to help cool the engine along with a new hood with integrated air intake. At the rear sits a new carbon fiber trunk spoiler, a new apron with central exhaust, and carbon fiber tailgate and roof ledges. For an added touch of sport, the side mirrors have both been replaced with carbon fiber components. The use of new, lightweight bodywork and new exhaust system helped shave a total of 29 lbs. (13kg) of weight from the GranTurismo.
The matte black exterior is complemented by a new set of wheels and lowered suspension. The fitment consists of new five-spoke 21-inch gloss black wheels with carbon fiber framing and 265 front and 295 rear tires. To complete the fitment, Anderson Germany has lowered the suspension.
Underneath the hood is a 4.7-liter V-8 that produces that downright sexy growl that Maserati is famous for. Anderson Germany has taken that beautiful V-8 symphony and turned up the volume with a new central exhaust system with racing catalytic converters and adjustable valves controlled via interior buttons. Anderson Germany has also developed a new engine tuning program that pushes output from the stock 440 to 492 horsepower.
The black theme continues to the interior of the GranTurismo. The Superior Black Edition features a host of new carbon fiber trim pieces that adorn the air inlets, door handles, steering wheel, door sills, seat regulators, shift paddles, and radio display. If, for some odd reason, the driver and/or passenger becomes tired with the 4.7-liter’s exhaust note, Anderson Germany has installed a custom sound system with dashboard and headrest monitors, Playstation 3, new subwoofer, speakers, and amplifier. The rest of the interior is cloaked in carbon black leather and black alcantara with contrasting red piping and stitching.
The Anderson Germany Maserati GranTurismo Superior Black Edition is currently available. Pricing for the matte black sports car has not been released.
