A mid-engined fighter jet.
If there’s one way to instantly transform a supercar into even more of a head-turner, it’s to throw on some military-inspired styling. More power and a new set of wheels always helps, but this Audi R8 by mbDESIGN is flying away and dropping bombs with its F-16 fighter jet livery.
The new mbDESIGN Audi R8 easily stands out from the crowd thanks to its new F-16 Artic Aggressor fighter jet-inspired livery. The mid-engined V-8 supercar was given the full three-tone camouflage wrap with various aircraft markers by the specialists at “raum22” to visually transform it into a driving weapon. While the R8 may blend in with the snow and ice, it stands out thanks to its new front apron, carbon fiber front splitter, side skirts, and side blades from the V10 variant. The carbon fiber rear wing and rear panel from the Audi R8 GT were added for better aerodynamics along with a custom full-carbon trunk cover and SuperCar24 carbon fiber diffuser. To finish things off, a new set of carbon fiber Audi side mirror caps, engine compartment, and trunk cover lining were also fitted.
While the new mbDESIGN Audi R8 is always on the radar, it flies low with its new set of in-house KV1 wheels and a more performance-oriented suspension. The team opted for their mbDESIGN KV1 wheels with a dull grey finish and camouflaged rim bed that measure 9.0 x 20 ET34 up front and more 12.0 x 20 ET42 at the rear with a more aggressive deep concave design. For added grip, those concave wheels were given new 235/30 ZR20 and 305/25 ZR20 Dunlop Sport Maxx GT tires. To complete the clean stance, mbDESIGN installed a GT coilover kit that helps sharpen up handling and lowers the overall ride height.
While the mbDESIGN Audi R8 may have the smaller 4.2-liter V-8, it still packs quite a punch. The mid-mounted engine was equipped with a new K&N motorsports air filter setup and new software tune for the ECU. A new Capristo stainless steel exhaust system lets owners turn on the afterburners with an electronic valve control setup. All these lead to an impressive 453 horsepower output for some more exciting acceleration.
Inside, drivers are treated to the factory GT carbon package and the sophisticated Bang & Olufsen sound system. Custom handmade alcantara was added on by mcDESIGN with the trunk liner and other parts of the interior, while the trunk’s interior cover is constructed of lightweight carbon fiber.
The full range of upgrades featured on the mbDESIGN Audi R8 are currently available including the military-inspired camouflage wrap. Pricing has not been released.
