Over the years, the BMW 3-Series has grown considerably compared to the original model, just like all vehicles today. For those that want BMW’s superb driving dynamics in a smaller package, the 2-Series is right up your alley. While it doesn’t have the top-end performance in stock form as its larger sibling, McChip-DKR can turn things up a notch for the 220i with the new MC320 upgrade kit.
The 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four engine in the BWM 220i is no slouch from the factory with its 181 horsepower and 199 lb-ft. of torque. There is, however, quite a bit of potential hidden in there that McChip-DKR was able to tap into with their MC320 upgrade kit. Two different levels of power can be achieved through the use of a larger turbocharger, larger downpipe, 200-cell sport catalytic converter, and bigger intercooler, rounded out by a software tune.
In the first stage, McChip-DKR was able to yield a healthy 255 horsepower and 400 lb-ft. of torque, good for a 155 mph top speed. The second, McChip-DKR MC320 upgrade produces a potent 320 horsepower and 435 lb-ft. from the four-pot, which sends the 220i to a top speed of 162 mph.
But McChip-DKR wasn’t all about the engine in the BMW 220i. The sports car’s athleticism was boosted by a new KW Variant 3 coilover kit and new set of MBDesign LV-1 wheels measuring 8.5 x 19 at the front and rear. To finish it all off, a new black, white, and grey vinyl wrap with brand logos was added to show off its more powerful character hiding beneath the hood.
The new range of upgrades featured on the McChip-DKR MC320 BMW 220i are currently available from the German company. The first stage is priced at 1,099 euros while the MC320 kit is priced at 6,399 euros.
