Taking custom-tailored luxury to a new level.
Four years ago, the McLaren Special Operations bespoke division made its global debut at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. This year, their newest custom-tailored exotic is making its debut on the 18th fairway of the famed Pebble Beach Golf Course. The new McLaren 570GT by MSO Concept shows a small preview of what customers will soon be able to experience on their bespoke vehicles.
The new McLaren 570GT by MSO Concept is dressed in an elegant Pearl White body and features the MSO Piano Black package. The deep gloss black finish is worn by various details throughout the exterior such as the wheels, side skirt, door inserts, and inside the cockpit.
But one of the most exciting aspects of the new McLaren 570GT by MSO Concept is the Electro-Chromic Roof, which is currently in development for the factory model. The new Electro-Chromic Roof uses the standard glass roof and adds a layer of UV-protection with an electro-chromic interlayer. A touch-sensitive headliner allows occupants to adjust the transparency through five settings from almost clear to a dark tint.
“This is the second consecutive year that McLaren Special Operations has used the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance to demonstrate our capabilities on Sports Series cars,” said Paul Mackenzie, Executive Director of McLaren Special Operations. “Last year, soon after the launch of the 570S, we showed the 570S ‘by MSO’ which featured the uniquely formulated Mauvine Blue paint finish coupled with a bespoke interior finished in Carbon Black leather with coordinating detailing, carried through from the exterior color. This year, closely following the reveal of the GT addition to the Sports Series family, we showcase the breadth of McLaren Special Operations personalization work, this time focusing on bespoke engineering design and components. With its Electro Chromic Roof especially, the McLaren 570GT by MSO Concept would be well suited to the needs and demands of customers in sunnier and warmer climates.”
With the McLaren 570GT being the most luxurious and refined model from Woking to-date, the MSO Concept took steps to emphasize that aspect even more. The suspension was modified to reduce the stiffness of the spring rate by 15-percent up front and 10-percent at the rear. The independent adaptive dampers feature full dynamic adjusting, and even the electro-hydraulic steering has a two-percent reduced ratio for a smooth drive.
Behind the cabin in the same 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 engine spitting our 562 bhp and 443 lb-ft. of torque through the seven-speed seamless-shift gearbox. The engine in the 570GT by MSO Concept, however, does feature a new MSO Exhaust made from titanium alloy that is 30-percent lighter than the standard exhaust. The heat shields boast a golden titanium nitride tint that peeks through the rear air ducts and changes to a blue/purple hue when the exhaust system changes temperatures.
Beneath the high-tech roof lies a custom-tailored cabin featuring a ‘By McLaren’ design with Saddle tan leather and the MSO Defined Carbon Fiber Interior Pack in Gloss Lacquer. Components such as the inserts, tunnel sides, and more wear a deep gloss lacquer for a high-end feel. A 12-speaker Bowers and Wilkins Hi-Fi system also comes standard.
The McLaren 570GT by MSO Concept will be on display at the 2016 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance with many of the featured design aspects being available on future models as part of the MSO individualization program.
