It’s all about the carbon fiber.
For just the fourth time ever, McLaren will be attending the Geneva International Motor Show in March. This year, the British automaker has a new location with its largest presence to-date. Showcasing the incredible growth and success of the brand, highlighted by a McLaren Special Operations (MSO) Carbon Fiber P1 and a carbon fiber themed 675LT Spider.
The star of the show is the McLaren P1 by MSO showcasing a hand-laid, bespoke ‘Lio Blue’ tinted lacquer. The 1 of 375 models will be the first P1 publically displayed with the full visual carbon fiber body conversion by the British automaker.
The McLaren P1 by MSO proudly wears the ‘Lio Blue’ tinted finish over its lightweight carbon fiber body to create an unmistakable hue under light. MSO also gave the wheels a gloss black finish to match other black parts on the exterior. Inside, the P1 wears carbon black Alcantara with blue stitching to match the exterior color palette, while the exhaust features a 24-karat gold heatshield to pay homage to the McLaren F1.
Proudly sitting next to the P1 is another MSO creation – the carbon fiber themed McLaren 675LT Spider. The Geneva Motor Show marks the public debut of the fastest, street-legal McLaren convertible ever, of which all 500 examples have been spoken for.
The unique one-off Spider model showcased at Geneva features a Ceramic Grey exterior paint applied by MSO with a number of visual carbon fiber highlights. The carbon fiber retractable hardtop cuts 2.2 lbs. of weight and cab be operated up to 25 mph. The front fenders boast carbon fiber louvres while the ‘Longtail’ Airbrake at the rear sports a lower plane in naked carbon fiber sitting below the body-colored upper surface. Carbon fiber can also be seen on the front bumper end plates, side intakes, and rear bumper.
Inside the 675LT Spider by MSO are black Alcantara racing seats with Xenon Yellow stitching. The rotary controls each sport a Solis finish that’s unique to the 675LT Spider. Just like the P1 by MSO on display and the 675LT’s F1 ancestor, the exposed engine bay features a 24-carat gold heatshield around the titanium exhaust.
McLaren will be showcasing the P1 by MSO and 675LT Spider by MSO alongside their recently-announced 650S GT3 racecar, Sports Series, Super Series, and Ultimate Series models at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, Stand 6040, Hall 6. The brand will also be debuting a new member to their Sports Series model line as well.
