A matte blue oil-burner.
It’s easy to see why the Audi A7 is so appealing. It has capitalized on the new four-door coupe segment and has a slanted Sportback rear with a low, commanding presence. That, however, wasn’t enough for the team at MR Car Design in Germany, who gave the oil-burning A7 3.0 TDI a full makeover from the wheels and engine to a new matte blue wrap.
MR Racing quickly turned the Audi A7 into an eye-catcher thanks to a new matte blue metallic wrap with special matte black and gold accents throughout, including logos. At the rear, the taillights wear a contrasting black tint and match the newly-tinted windows. Up front, the MR Racing-tuned engine makes itself known with the powerful OEM Audi RS 7 front fascia.
Completing the overall, attention-grabbing package is a new wheel fitment. MR Racing opted for new Emition Wheels concave rims with a unique Y-spoke concave design with a powder-coated matte gold with polished outer lips. The wheels were fitted in a wide 10.0 x 20 fitment at the front and rear with 265/30 ZR20 Pirelli P Zero Silver tires to provide the torquey diesel engine with all the grip it needs. Behind those wheels sit OEM 400- and 370 mm ceramic brakes from the Audi S7 model for fade-free stopping power. To finish off the new fitment, MR Racing gave the Audi A7 3.0 TDI a new electronically-adjustable KW DLC kit that works with the factory air suspension and can be programmed instantly with an iPhone app.
Underneath the matte blue hood lies a torque-filled 3.0-liter turbodiesel V-6 engine that’s ready to show off its new muscle. MR Racing gave the 3.0 TDI a new software tune that bumps output from 201 bhp and 332 lb-ft. of torque to 295 bhp and 451 lb-ft. of torque for better acceleration. The team also installed a new exhaust system sound adaptation module that gives the V-6 a more baritone V-8 growl as it speeds through the rev range.
Inside, the Audi A7 3.0 TDI was given the OEM+ treatment by MR Racing. New Audi-sourced components were added such as a new flat-bottomed, multifunction sports steering wheel from the RS 3 along with Audi aluminum switching rockers in brushed, polishes, matte, or other finishes. For entertainment purposes, the rear passengers benefit from a DVB-T-tuner by Kufatec, 15-inch ceiling screen and new floor mats with blue embroidery to match the exterior.
The new matte blue Audi A7 3.0 TDI may not be the fastest or most engaging model on the road, but MR Racing made sure that it will be one of the biggest attention-grabbers rolling on the pavement.
