Who said diesels are slow?
Audi’s new A7 Sportback has is a sport-oriented executive sedan that incorporates the relatively new four-door coupe craze in the automotive Industry. Roland Mayer, head of MTM – Motoren Technik Mayer and former Audi engineer, has vast experience with Audi engines and electronics. Mayer and his company have developed two new diesel engine upgrades along with upgrades that transform the A7’s driving dynamics.
The new MTM Audi A7 tuning package takes the 3.0-liter turbodiesel V-6 of the Audi A7 to another level of performance while still retaining much of its frugality. The stock 245 horsepower 369 lb-ft. engine can be outfitted with two different ECU upgrades that each take just 90 minutes to install. The first program can boost power output to 285 horsepower and 428 lb-ft., or customers can opt for the 300 horsepower 442.5 lb-ft. program instead. Both of the programs raise the top speed to 263 km/h (163.42 mph). In addition to the ECU upgrades, MTM also offers an exhaust system with four 89 mm tailpipes to show off the added power.
To go along with the new MTM Audi A7 tuning program, the German company has designed a few chassis upgrades to give the four door coupe a more dynamic ride. The MTM Audi A7 will ride on new 20-inch MTM Bitmoto wheels with either 20 or 30 mm wheel spacers. MTM is testing a new suspension system that will provide the A7 with better handling and a lower center of gravity.
The new MTM Audi A7 tuning program for the 3.0 TDI is currently available. Pricing for the 3.0 TDI ECU upgrades start at € 1,392 (+/- 1,900 USD), while the exhaust is priced at € 2,600 (+/- 3,700 USD). Although the suspension is currently in testing, it will be available at the end of August for € 699 (+/-1,000 USD).
