Double the diesel fun.
It’s all about making a statement at the Geneva Motor Show, and MTM is doing just that with their new Volkswagen Amarok set to be unveiled this week. It’s not your average truck either; instead of the standard turbodiesel inline-four cylinder engine, there’s more than double the displacement, double the output, and double the fun thanks to a new turbodiesel V-8 engine. That’s a truck that we can get used to real quick.
The standard 2.0 TDI engine found in the Volkswagen Amarok has been ripped out and replaced with a new 4.2 TDI V-8 engine that fits like a glove inside of the engine bay. After the heart transplant, the truck has a whopping 410 PS (404 hp) and 686 lb-ft. of torque to do all sorts of tough truck things really fast.
The factory leaf springs were removed and replaced with a new Panhard rod and air spring combo to accommodate for all the extra oil-burning ponies. The solid rear axle also boasts newly installed MTM disc brakes along with the new 405 x 36 mm MTM brake set up front. These brakes hide behind new BBS SV wheels that are specifically made for trucks and SUVs, and wear 295/40 22 Michelin Latitude tires.
The Frankensteinish conversion allows the MTM Volkswagen Amarok to accelerate to 62 mph in just six seconds flat while reaching a top speed of 134 mph (222 km/h).
The new MTM Volkswagen Amarok with the 4.2-liter diesel V-8 engine will make its debut at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show at stand 2045 in Hall 2 alongside the Audi A8 4.2 TDI “Nardo Edition” and 504 hp MTM Audi RS Q3.
