Throwin’ it down on the drag strip.
Two iconic American sports cars that will always be battling it out for our enjoyment and benefit are the Chevrolet Corvette and Dodge Viper. Two of the latest and greatest examples of the two supercars went to the drag strip to settle some things and take home bragging rights.
Let’s take a look at some quick specs. The Corvette Z06 sports a 6.2-liter, supercharged V-8 engine spitting out 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft. of torque. The Dodge Viper TA comes packed with a mighty, naturally-aspirated 8.4-liter V-10 engine pumping out 640 horsepower and 600 lb-ft. of torque.
Those are both pretty close numbers and it means that most of the drag race will come down to the driver’s ability.
Here, the Corvette Z06 was able to achieve an 11.753-second quarter-mile time at 124.35 mph while the Viper blew through at 12.171 seconds at 122.97 mph. Again, both very close times that could change with drivers.
But, for now, the Corvette takes home bragging rights after this race. We sincerely hope this rivalry never dies.
