The beast is back, but what will power it?
New pictures and a few details of the new C63 AMG have leaked out on EvoCars after Mercedes-Benz unveiled the next-generation C-Class models. Some notable exterior changes include a new hood with two powerful contours that hint at the added power, and new LED daytime running lights integrated into the front bumper.
So what’s under the hood? Mercedes-Benz has been mum about the new engine it will use in the C63 AMG. According to EvoCars, the 6.2-liter V-8 that has previously powered the C63, SLS, and other AMG-models will be used for the C63 AMG Sedan, and is capable of making anywhere from 457 horsepower to a monstrous 571 horsepower as found in the SLS AMG. The new C63 AMG Coupe is said to be powered by Mercedes-Benz’s new 5.5-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 that is more efficient than its 6.2-liter counterpart. One thing is for sure; both models will send all 450-plus raging horses to the rear wheels via seven-speed automatic transmission.
We’ll be sure to keep you updated on the new C63 AMG when it is finally unveiled, so stay tuned!
