Steve Saleen has confirmed that a new Saleen supercar is in the works. Amazingly tight-lipped but eager to share at the same time, Saleen said his new American namesake would be made public within the next two years. The new production car would borrow heavily from the development of the Saleen S5S Raptor Concept.
The smaller, cheaper S5S Raptor would’ve had a supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 with 650 hp and cost just under $200,000. We wouldn’t be surprised if the new car would be more fuel-efficient as well. The new Saleen will serve as an American alternative to the McLaren MP4-12C, Ferrari 458 Italia, Porsche 911 Turbo, and Lamborghini Gallardo successor. A New Saleen Supercar….(blissful sigh)
