Drop the top and turn up the boost!
Novitec Tridente knows all of the ins and outs of Maserati automobiles. They’ve been modifying and supercharging them for quite some time now, and are making the sportiest convertible from the brand even more exciting. Novitec Tridente has taken the Maserati GranCabrio MC and turned it into an open-top rocket with the new supercharger system and a host of other sporty upgrades.
Maserati is known for their rumbling and grumbling V-8 engines that expel an intoxicating melody of Italian power and prestige. But that’s not the only thing that will be tempting drivers to press the throttle, a new supercharger system forcing up to 0.43 BAR (6.23 PSI) into the 4.7-liter V-8 engine will be hard to ignore.
Novitec Tridente developed a new supercharger system specifically for the 4.7-liter V-8 engine that provides a rush of power in a linear band. The supercharger is fed air through an enlarged air intake and manifold system, with fresh air flowing in through a new hood with centrally-positioned scoop. A water-cooled intercooler with a separate cooling circuit with dual heat exchangers helps to keep temperatures optimized. Novitec Tridente also installed larger fuel injectors, 105 mm tailpipes for the factory flap-controlled exhaust in either black or polished finishes, and recalibrated the ECU with new software. After the conversion, the engine produces a total of 646 horsepower at 7,500 RPM and 460 lb-ft. of torque 5,600 RPM. This allows the GranCabrio MC to accelerate to 62 mph in just 3.9 seconds, reach 124 mph in 11.4 seconds, and reach a top speed of over190 mph.
Instead of installing various carbon fiber components and body work that take away from the car’s original design, Novitec Tridente decided to focus on the chassis of the GranCabrio MC. The convertible benefits from a sports suspension system with hydraulically controlled height and damping settings. In addition, the height at the front and rear axles can be raised by 40 mm to clear speed bumps, and automatically lowers at 80 km/h.
The Novitec Tridente Maserati GranCabrio MC is then finished off with a set of in-house, three-piece forged wheels. The five twin-spoke NM4 wheels were installed in a staggered 9J x 21 at the front and 12J x 22 at the rear and weigh only 21.8- and 29.8 lbs. each, respectively. Novitec Tridente also installed high performance Pirelli PZero tires in 255/30 ZR 21 and 315/25 ZR 22 sizes. In addition to the NM4 wheels, customers can also opt for Novitec Rosso NM3 wheels in 20-, 21-, and 22-inch diameters.
Customers can also tap into Novitec Tridente’s interior customization program that allows for a range of fine leather and alcantara as well as other interior components to be installed in a variety of colors and finishes.
The Novitec Tridente Maserati GranCabrio MC is currently available as a complete package or as separate modifications. The full supercharger engine conversion is priced at 23,900 Euros.
