Four levels of fun.
O.CT Tuning has been working on software optimization since the mid-90s, so they know a thing or two about making a car go faster without much hardware. The latest to benefit from the code-crunching Austrians is the MkVII Volkswagen Golf R.
The potent 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four cylinder engine and its all-wheel drive system make the hot hatch a very potent but usable everyday sports car. So, the programmers and experts at O.CT Tuning created four tuning stages that are installed progressively until the maximum power is desired in an effort to keep costs reasonable for customers. Each stage includes extensive dynometer testing in order to produce a reliable output as well.
The first stage of tuning pushes the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine to 370 horsepower and 339 lb-ft. of torque. In Stage 2, the Golf R generates 378 horsepower and 354 lb-ft. of torque. O.CT Tuning dials up a healthy 395 horsepower and 372 lb-ft. of torque in Stage 3, while the top-of-the-line Stage 4 cranks out an impressive 450 horsepower and 406 lb-ft. of torque.
While the Volkswagen Golf R is the star of this show, O.CT Tuning can also apply the same upgrade stages to any other model with the same 2.0-liter engine under the VAG-group umbrella. So, cars such as the Seat Leon Cupra can also be boosted with the same software tuning as well.
