Bark at the moon.
The new Mercedes-AMG GT is here and the newest German sports car is looking to make some headlines with its athletic abilities and sleek shape. It also helps that it has an exhaust that will put a big smile on your face as well.
Many were disappointed at the news that the naturally-aspirated M156 6.2-liter AMG V-8 engine was being phased out, years ago. It’s unholy exhaust note, big displacement muscle, and sexy look as it sat stuffed inside an engine bay will surely be missed. However, the new M178 twin-turbocharged, 4.0-liter V-8 is more than up for the challenge of putting down the power with a whopping 503 ponies and 479 lb-ft. in the Mercedes-AMG GT S.
One thing that had everybody worried was the possibility of the new AMG engine having a more pedestrian and bland exhaust note. As seen on this video from Shmee150, that’s certainly not the case as the mighty 4.0-liter revs, growls, and backfires, echoing like a powerful gunshot.
Disappointed? More like overjoyed.
