Although the 991-generation Porsche 911 models may be grabbing headlines as new variants like the 911 GT3 are being pushed out, there’s one model that’s sometimes overlooked but always respected – the Porsche Cayman. The third-generation Cayman and Cayman S models provide drivers with a brilliant mid-engined chassis and superb athleticism that is sometimes even preferred to the 911 (gasp). Now the team at TechArt is looking to give owners the opportunity to steal the spotlight from the 911 with their new individualization program for the mid-engined sports car.
The design of the third-generation Porsche Cayman is more athletic, muscular, and dynamic compared to the rounded figures of its predecessors. TechArt wanted to emphasize this character with a new aerodynamic body kit but not take away from the design with gaudy components. The front of the Cayman wears a new body-colored front apron with integrated two-piece spoiler and splitter lip along with a larger central air intake. New two-tone body colored and titanium matte grey side mirrors add a touch of sport to the side of the Cayman along with a set of upright fins fitted to intakes on each of the rear fenders. At the rear, the TechArt Cayman features a fixed spoiler atop of a new diffuser and diffuser trim that integrates the new sport exhaust system.
In terms of performance, the TechArt Porsche Cayman can be fitted two different exhausts. The 2.7-liter or 3.4-liter flat-six engines can be mated with either a new sports muffler to give the sports car a bit of an edge, or the soon-to-be-released sport exhaust system with valve control that can be altered by the push of a button.
TechArt also took the chassis to the next level on the Cayman. The factory suspension with or without PASM can be modified with a new TechArt sport spring kit. The kit lowers the ride height by 35 mm with the standard suspension or by 25 mm on models equipped with PASM. The lowered suspension also allows the five-spoke TechArt Formula or twin-spoke TechArt Formula III forged alloy wheels to sit closer to the body. The 21-inch wheels can be given a variety of finishes and colors including two-tone and high-gloss ceramic.
Inside, TechArt offers owners the ability to custom-tailor a variety of things from the seats to the trim using their in-house saddlery division. Special stitching in a number of patters, new trim pieces, floor mats, foot pedals, gauges, and more can be tailored to each individual. The steering wheel can be replaced with a new three-spoke unit with TechArt paddle shifters for models equipped with PDK.
TechArt allows customers to purchase individual items or a complete kit for their third-generation Porsche Cayman or Cayman S models. Pricing has not been released.
