“5 million reasons to celebrate!”
In case you’ve lived under a rock for the past decade, social media is the big thing these days. Whether it’s personal or business, social media can make or break someone or something. One of the more active automakers on Facebook is Porsche; giving their fans all sorts of media to enjoy, updates, and even giveaways.
After amassing 1 million fans on Facebook, Porsche made a 911 GT3 R Hybrid with a special livery covered in 27,000 names from their fan page. Now, they’ve hit the 5 million mark and are having another celebration.
The “50 years of the Porsche 911” anniversary celebration kicked off on their page with a pretty special interactive program with fans. Porsche gave all of their 5 million fans the opportunity to design a 911 Carrera 4S to their liking working along with Porsche Exclusive. A total of 54,000 fans voted on the variety of upgrades and specifications on the new 911 and came up with quite the design.
The Porsche 5 Million 911 Carrera 4S model features a new Aerokit Cup package that consists of a new front fascia and front lip spoiler with better aerodynamic properties, and a new rear lid with fixed spoiler for better downforce. The widebody Carrera 4S was covered in a specially-designed Aquablaumetallic paint and wrapped in a film that sports a “5M Porsche fans” along each side. New 20-inch Carrera S wheels with a contrasting white finish gives the car a more athletic look.
Inside, Porsche installed a new set of custom-made door entry sills that feature “Personally Built by 5 Million Porsche Fans” writing along with the same lettering on the dashboard trim.
Porsche is also running a contest on Facebook until August 18th, where one lucky fan will be given the opportunity to drive the 911 Carrera 4S that 5 Million fans built at the Porsche Experience Center at Silverstone in the United Kingdom. Nine runners-up in the contest will receive a 1:43 scale model of the special 911 Carrera 4S. The Facebook contest is open to anyone with a Facebook account and valid driver’s license.
