It’ll cost a lot of green.
The Porsche 918 Spyder is one of the most anticipated models from the German automaker in quite some time. It’s mean, it’s green, and it’s going to be really fast. And our fans in the United States can finally rejoice as this German super car isn’t going to be offered only in Europe – it’s coming overseas! But, if you want the green, environmentally-friendly super car, be prepared to fork up a lot of green.
On the Porsche USA Press website, pricing for all of the 2013-model-year cars was released. But, scrolling down the sheet shows a pair of models that we’re not used to seeing: the Porsche 918 Spyder (2014) and the Porsche 918 Spyder Weissach Package (2014).
The standard Porsche 918 Spyder starts at $845,000 (without taxes, destination, etc.) at dealerships while a large range of options will quickly move that number skyward. The 918 Spyder Weissach Package is for the track enthusiast and includes an audio system delete, carbon interior pack with paddle shifters, new aerodynamics, lightweight brakes, flame-resistant seat material, an exterior wrap instead of paint, and weighs in at 77 lbs. less than the standard model. All of those exciting upgrades cost an additional $84,000 for a total price of $929,000 (without taxes, destination, etc.).
So, if you have a couple million lying around go out and buy the 770 horsepower super car that can go 0-62 mph in three seconds flat. Then, send the change over here so we can have a long-term 918 Spyder “test” car.
