More power, please!
The Mercedes-AMG GT is a beast that’s already garnered quite a bit of attention from the aftermarket tuning industry – and we love it! The already diabolical sounds and power of the factory Mercedes-AMG sports car has gotten better and better, and now Posaidon is getting into the game with their GT RS 700.
The new M178 twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 engine developed and hand-built by AMG is the focus for the team at Posaidon with the GT RS 700 upgrade program. Their goal was to improve power reliably through effective upgrades without having to install complex parts.
The Posaidon GT RS 700 features a new set of in-house turbochargers and a larger intercooler that allows for more boost pressure and reliable cooling. A full exhaust system with free-flow motorsport-grade catalytic converters cuts down on backpressure and tack on more power. The final aspect of the upgrade program is a new ECU software tune for both the engine and the transmission to provide a flat torque curve with a power curve that progressively builds through the rev range, and a gearbox that can accommodate.
Thanks to the new Posaidon GT RS 700, the Mercedes-AMG GT and GT S models can produce a whopping 700 horsepower and 553 lb-ft. of torque, with the latter figure being electronically limited for reliability. For customers that like to live on the edge, Posaidon can remove the torque limiter.
The new upgrades enable the Posaidon GT RS 700 to reach 62 mph from rest in just 3.2 seconds and hit a top speed that’s all the way back at 217 mph.
But the increase in power is only part of the options from Posaidon for the Mercedes-AMG GT and GT S. If customers so choose, the factory stop-start function can be deactivated permanently. Posaidon can also install their in-house radar speed trap warning system that is integrated directly into the factory COMAND Online navigation system.
The new Posaidon GT RS 700 is currently available as a complete upgrade package for the Mercedes-AMG GT and GT S models.
