Nothing better than a little tune.
Mercedes-Benz AMG is known for its big, mean V-8 engines and force fed blocks of terror hidden inside their German muscle cars. But there are some smaller turbocharged troublemakers in the AMG model range that are more than capable of handling their own and shredding some asphalt. The M133DE20AL turbocharged inline-four cylinder engines found in the Mercedes-Benz A45, CLA45, and GLA 45 AMG models now has three stages of tuning at its disposal thanks to the ECU specialists at Posaidon.
Right from the factory, this potent 2.0-liter, turbocharged engine comes packed with a whopping 355 horsepower and 332 lb-ft. of torque. That’s all and well, but Posaidon knew it could extract even more from the tiny terror, so they created a few ECU tuning programs through a “tuning box” inside the engine bay.
In stage one, the 2.0-liter engine gets pumped up to 385 horsepower and 358 lb-ft. of torque. Next up is stage two, where output rises to 405 horsepower and 361 lb-ft. of torque. The top dog in the gang is stage three, where Posaidon turns things up to ‘11’ with a potent 445 horsepower and 395 lb-ft. of torque. At this point, it begs the question – who needs a V-8?
Once stage three is installed, the Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG is capable of breaking into the 180 mph top speed barrier with proper tires, of course. Posaidon also recommends upgrading the drivetrain and suspension components to handle the added power to prevent damage to the factory parts. In the future, the German ECU specialists will be offering a full stainless steel exhaust system with optional valve-control.
All three stages of tuning as well as the removal of the top speed limited will be available for the Mercedes-Benz A45, CLA45, and GLA 45 AMG models with prices starting at 1,500 Euros for the top speed limiter removal. Posaidon also offers tuning upgrades for the standard M270 turbocharged four-cylinder engines in the Mercedes-Benz A-, CLA-, and GLA-Class models as well.
