Audi’s ever-popular R8 model has all sorts of street-going and motorsport variants with a few road-legal, motorsport-inspired variants sprinkled in between. Potter & Rich are taking that blend of racing performance and high-end motoring to the next level with the “Recon MC8” Audi R8 V10 Plus.
Limited to just 10 units, the Potter & Rich Recon MC8 Audi R8 V10 Plus is a track-day monster that can conquer the road with high-end exclusivity. With the help of McChip-DKR, they were able to create a downforce-inducing powerhouse with all sorts of custom-tailored track-spec upgrades and a few exclusive luxuries inside.
The stock 5.2-liter V-10 engine was removed and completely rebuilt with all sorts of goodies such as new pistons and con rods, and given refinished cylinder heads and flywheels by McChip-DKR. The team then installed a new supercharger setup and reworked the software to result in an eye-popping 950 horsepower and 664 lb-ft. of torque. A specially-designed exhaust system with radio-controlled valve flaps easily make bystanders aware of its awe-inspiring output.
All that power isn’t going to all four wheels, either. Instead, the factory drivetrain was replaced with a traditional rear-wheel drive setup with Drexler differential lock for better dynamics and power-to-weight ratio. A new seven-speed double-coupling gearbox ensures quick and precise shifts.
The entire suspension was also rebuilt with the goal of carving up corners. KW Automotive designed a full motorsports chassis with hydraulic air suspension (KW HLS) for the Recon MC8 that makes for one slick performer. Customers can also choose from the three-piece BBS motorsport wheels in an 11.0 x 18 front and 13.0 x 18 rear setup with 305/30 ZR18 and 335.30 ZR18 tires or three-piece MB-Design LV1 wheels in a 9.0 x20 and 11.5 x 21 size with 245/30 ZR20 and 305/25 ZR21 tires. New Brembo brakes from the Audi R8 LMS Ultra make sure that it all stops on a dime.
Potter & Rich also dipped into the Audi parts bin for the R8 LMS Ultra carbon fiber widebody kit. The Recon MC8 wears the lightweight kit proudly with its new front flaps, splitter, GT3 rear spoiler, extended fenders, and more. The other benefit is that it reduces weight over the original body work that it replaces for better overall performance.
Inside, luxury with a touch of racing power is the theme. The Potter & Rich Recon MC8 was outfitted with soft alcantara on almost every surface with contrasting stitching patterns. A new speedometer with extended 270 mph limit and fire extinguisher round off the cockpit additions.
The new Potter & Rich Recon MC8 based on the Audi R8 V10 Plus will be limited to just ten cars. The featured model is currently available for purchase.
