The end of an era.
The Brazilian Grand Prix was the last time that Formula One teams utilized their potent V-8 engines as the switch to V-6 engines begins next season. It’s the end of an era and a sad thing to witness, just like when they switched from V-10s to V-8s, years ago.
After the race, the Red Bull RB9 that Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber raced was brought back into the garage for one final send-off. The team started up the engine and revved it to 22,000 RPM, causing the exhaust manifolds to glow a brilliant red as the high-revving, diabolical scream was let out one last time.
RIP V-8 F1 engines.
