A little less controversial.
Since the Porsche Panamera was introduced at the 13th Auto Shanghai International Automobile Show in Shanghai, China in 2009, it has spawned a great deal of controversy due to its styling, the “true Porsche” argument, and the fact that it has four doors. Production numbers, however, show that the car has been a success for the German automaker, with 22,518 being sold internationally by September of 2010 – its first year of production.
Regardless of your thoughts on the car, Porsche will continue to produce the Panamera as long as it keeps selling. With the entire company’s model line beginning to head in a new direction in terms of design, Theophilus Chin, created a pair of renderings showing what the next-generation, 2016 Porsche Panamera may look like in the future.
Much of the design of the new Porsche Panamera will be drawn from the Panamera Sport Turismo Concept car as well as the new 991-generation 911. The rendering shows a sleek profile with a front-end that takes after the Sport Turismo concept with its new headlights, air intakes, and bumper design, while the rear clearly shows a number of 911 characteristics such as the slim and wide taillights.
Love it or hate it now, the next-generation Porsche Panamera will be less offensive and controversial than the current-generation model. Unless, of course, you still subscribe to the belief that it is not a “true” Porsche. If that’s the case, then continue with the hate.
