Some fun with the fourth-generation car.
One of Audi’s bread-and-butter cars has been the A6. Now in its fourth generation, the mid-size luxury car is packed with technology and those oh-so-special LED lights, wrapped in a modern exterior. The standard Audi A6 Avant 3.0 TDI is no slouch, but stacked up against its 4.0 TFSI-powered S6 and RS 6 siblings, it’s a bit mundane. Senner Tuning wanted to change that and give the diesel sedan a bit more style to go along with its added power.
The top-of-the-line 3.0-liter turbodiesel V-6 engine was the first focus of the conversion by Senner Tuning. The 3.0 TDI was outfitted with a Stage 2 upgrade package that involves a new software tune for the ECU and a sport air filter. The two modifications helped to boost output all the way to 374 horsepower and a whopping 527 lb-ft. of torque, reducing acceleration time noticeably. As part of the engine upgrade, the Audi A6 3.0 TDI was outfitted with a new a power converter to the throttle pedal which allows for better response and a more engaging drive. The final touch was an Eberspächer Hydronic II heating system for those cold winter days that can be controlled by an iPhone.
With more power putting a bigger smile on the driver’s face, the Senner Tuning team then shifted their attention to the chassis of the Audi A6 Avant. The German aftermarket tuner offers customers a choice between either Varianza T1S or Sword SC1 wheels, each with a high-gloss anodized face and black recess finish. Each wheel measures 9.0 x 20 and wears Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta 255/35 R20 tires for better grip. What really finishes off the fitment and adds bonus points with handling is the new suspension. Senner Tuning installed a new set of KW Street Comfort coilovers that lowers the ride height between 30 and 55 mm for a more optimum center of gravity.
The Audi A6 Avant 3.0 TDI may not be the most exciting or fastest from the factory, but Senner Tuning ensures it will be satisfying to drive. Pricing for all of the upgrades has not been released.
