Senner puts some fun into Audi’s five-cylinder.
The Audi TT-RS packs a ton of potential with its boosted turbo-five that’s rated at 340 brake horsepower stock. The German performance specialists at Senner Tuning decided to take advantage of the 2.5-liter that was begging to be unleashed, and with some relatively simple upgrades, was able to boost power and create a thrilling driving experience.
Just like the late 80’s and early 90’s, Audi has stuck a turbocharged five-cylinder that just beckons drivers to mash the throttle in a two-door coupe. And, as the previous turbo-fives, it is capable of producing a great deal of power. Senner Tuning chose not to fully exploit all of the potential found in the new 2.5-liter and instead developed upgrades that provide respectable power gains without having to completely overhaul the drivetrain. Senner has fitted a new intercooler and sport air filter to draw in cooler air more efficiently, while a new stainless steel exhaust with throttle control reduces backpressure. All of the upgrades work together through a retuned ECU to produce a stout 430 horsepower and 428 lb-ft. of torque. While no acceleration specifications were released, you can expect the 4.6-second 0-60 mph time to be reduced to the low- to mid-four second range.
Senner Tuning also adds a number of carbon fiber exterior components and striking wheels that supplement the increase in power. At the rear, a new carbon fiber spoiler and housing have been fitted to create additional downforce at the rear axle. Both side mirrors are also clad in the lightweight carbon fiber, enhancing the sporty appearance of the TT-RS. New light alloy wheels have also been added that give the all-wheel drive monster a bigger footprint. Measuring 20×9 all around, the Varianza T1S seven double-spoke wheels are finished in a diamond black polish, and wear 255/30 R20 Vredestein Sessanta Ultrac tires for added grip. To further improve the handling of the TT-RS, new KW Variant 3 coilovers have been installed.
The athletic character that Senner Tuning has set free with the new performance upgrades is displayed with new interior components. Carbon fiber, the material that correlates with performance, is used throughout the interior. Facing the driver is a new carbon fiber sport steering wheel, tachometer, and tachometer cover. The center console, door handle, and dashboard trim is also replaced with the lightweight material completing the sporty interior package.
Pricing for the entire package and separate components are available at the Senner Tuning website.
