Widebody time for the Gullwing!
One of the most sought-after Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG models is the big, bad Black Series. It’s the missing link between the standard road-going SLS AMG variant and its racing-spec GT3 sibling. It has it all from advanced aerodynamics to a mean and nasty engine that growls with anger. The team at SGA wanted to give the standard SLS AMG owners a chance to experience the Black Series so they developed an entirely new widebody kit with loads of carbon fiber.
The new widebody kit from SGA adds a more assertive touch to the German supercar. It all starts up front where a double-layer spoiler flanked by carbon flaps generates downforce and aids in airflow to the new inlets. Atop the 6.2-liter, hand-built V-8 engine is a new ventilated hood to keep temperatures regulated. Each of the front fenders has been extended along with the rear to create that wide, low-slung stance and add some visual muscle. The front boasts new carbon fiber air outlets while the rear fender has a molded fuel cap. The extended front and rear fenders are connected by a pair of elongated side skirts with integrated air inlets. The butt of the SGA SLS AMG is even wider thanks to the new rear fenders and features a double-layer carbon fiber diffuser with two Black Series exhaust tips protruding. Atop that wide butt sits a large adjustable carbon fiber wing that can generate loads of downforce for enhanced high-speed stability and handling dynamics.
The diamond white and carbon fiber color combo quickly catch the eyes, but it’s not long before the newly fitted MAE Design forged wheels command your attention. The three-piece forged wheels feature a turbine optic design with directional running pattern. Each wheel sports chromium-plated beddings and brush-finished spokes. Up front, the wheels sit in a large 10.5 x 20 setup with 3.5-inch lips and 265/30 rubber shoes. At the rear, things get staggered with massive pair of 12.0 x 21 wheels boasting a 4.0-inch lip and 325/25 performance tires. The lightweight three-piece wheels give the impression of speed and allow for the gold-bronze AMG brake calipers to shine through.
The new SGA Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG widebody kit is currently available along with the new MAE Design turbine wheels. Pricing has not been provided.
