You don’t know luxury until your Maybach has been knighted.
Maybach had a short life that unfortunately ended in 2012. For ten years, the German automaker produced some spectacular luxury vehicles that attempted to compete against the likes of Bentley and Rolls Royce. The brand didn’t achieve the success that Daimler AG envisioned and the plug was pulled in 2012. The vehicles are still impressive and the U.S.-based Knight Luxury is making sure that they are the epitome of affluence and custom-tailored style.
One of the reasons that Knight Luxury, Inc. Owner and Founder, Toby Knight, believes that Maybach failed as a brand was its bland designs. “With the “Sir-Maybach-Project” we wanted to show that the Maybach is certainly a very attractive car also for self-drive and have therefore given the vehicle more sportiness,” said Knight.
The new “Sir Maybach” Maybach 57 S has been given a full makeover inside and out. Visually, the front and rear bumpers were replaced with sportier units and given integrated LED daytime running lights up front and a new diffuser at the rear. Carbon fiber makes up the hood and trunk of the luxury sedan to shed a few pounds along with the three pillars, front and rear fenders, and all four doors. Two spoilers are positioned at the rear window and trunk lid to improve stability at high speeds. Even the engine bay is covered in the carbon fiber with the cover and air filter boxes constructed of the lightweight material.
Making contact with the ground are three-piece 24-inch wheels in a massive 9.5 x 24 front and 10.0 x 24 rear setup. Each wheel on the Sir Maybach 57 S features a carbon finished painted rim star and black powder coated beds, while white pinstripes, black reflector stripes, and custom logos give some style to the new shoes. Pirelli 285/30 R24 tires are fitted to each wheel and white-painted brake calipers peer from behind the spokes.
But the lower-half of the Sir Maybach 57 S from Knight Luxury wasn’t finished. An electronic level control ensures a low, smooth ride down the highway for passengers inside. Underneath the doors is a ten-LED lighting system for making entering or exiting the car a special event at night. Four projector lights with the Knight logo shine on the ground when any of the four doors are opened.
The Sir Maybach 57 S wasn’t designed for outright performance, but a few extra ponies aren’t a bad thing. The 6.0-liter, twin-turbocharged V-12 engine was equipped with a quad exhaust system with racing catalytic converters and valve control system that pushes output up to 712 horsepower.
Inside is where the real magic happens. Knight Luxury equipped the Sir Maybach 57 S with plush diamond-stitched leather trimming on the seats with embroidered Knight logos, foot area, and door panels, while the Knight logo also adorns the center console and floor mats. An ergonomic sports steering wheel with red Kederrand protrudes from the black and white carbon leather dashboard. The headliner has a special touch of leather with carbon diamond stitching Alcantara. Even the luggage can ride in comfort with the carbon diamond stitching and diamond logo. Overall, 28 parts were replaced by white carbon trim and 39 parts were replaced with black carbon fiber trim pieces.
The rear seat passengers are the ones that really ride in style in the Sir Maybach 57 S. Behind the dark tinted windows, Knight Luxury equipped the rear seats with an Apple entertainment system including Apple TV module, two iPads, and two keyboards connected to the car’s command module. A new subwoofer and amplifier improve the factory sound system even more and a mobile LTE wireless module allows for constant connectivity.
Knight Luxury hasn’t specified an official price for the Sir Maybach 57 S because of the incredible list of options available for the luxury sedan. The Miami-based company will send the factory Maybach to Germany for the conversion and cost approximately $1 million.
