The Mercedes-AMG A45 might not be the first choice in the hardcore performance model line, but it shouldn’t be written off so quickly for its small stature. The all-wheel drive hot hatch is a boatload of fun thanks to its force-fed 2.0-liter inline-four and the team at Speed-Buster have made it even better with their new Chiptuning-Box.
Both the first- and second-generation Mercedes-AMG A45 models can be optimized with the Speed-Buster Chiptuning-Box. The hand-built 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four with 360-horsepower in the first-generation or 381- in the second can get a healthy dose of excitement with the relatively simple upgrade.
The multi-channel Chiptuning-Box has specific parameters for both the original and facelifted models of the A45. In the original, the 2.0-liter engine can get a boost up to 402 horsepower and 378 lb-ft. of torque. In the facelifted variant, the motor goes up to 431 horsepower and 431 lb-ft. of torque. After the Chiptuning-Box upgrade, both variants dive deep into the territory of the naturally-aspirated AMG V-8s that dominated the lineup in previous years – in a compact hatchback!
The new Speed-Buster Chiptuning-Box plug-and-play unit comes with a vehicle-specific wiring harness and a two-year limited warranty for just 999 euros. For an extra 50 euros, customers can have a smartphone app that controls the Chiptuning-box as well.
