Giving the snake more personality.
Black, silver, and white are some of the most common and oftentimes bland colors worn by cars. While some sports- and supercars look great in these colors, they can often lack a certain personality of cars with exotic and vibrant colors. SRT wanted to inject their Viper with a bit more character, so they created the high-impact, hand-painted Stryker Green paint color for their supercar and debuted it alongside the new Grand Touring package.
The new Stryker Green paint color takes inspiration from the original Snakeskin Green that appeared on the Viper in 2008. The paint features special green and yellow pigments and a liquid mercury appearance that helps to add depth and flaunt the SRT Viper’s curvaceous bodywork, while standing out from the traditional automotive color palette.
“We’re continuing to develop and build unique, low-volume, special-edition colors for the Viper that adds to the exclusivity of our American-built flagship supercar,” said Ralph Gilles, President and CEO, SRT Brand and Motorsports. “Every SRT Viper is painted with a process that is very similar to what we use for our show cars. The application of the new Stryker Green exterior paint is a very detailed and intricate process, taking approximately eight hours to complete. The process first starts with a base color coat followed by a green-tinted mid-coat and topped off with a clear finish. Each coat application adds depth and accentuates the curvature of the Viper’s exterior design.”
Beneath the Stryker Green paint is the new Grand Touring Package that adds a few special goodies that were only available on the Viper GTS price class. The new GT special package includes Nappa leather seating, dynamic two-mode Bilstein Damptronic Select suspension, and five-mode Electronic Stability Control to add even more athleticism to the Viper.
Also featured on the show car besides the Stryker Green paint and Grand Touring package is a new prototype aero package utilizing a MOPAR carbon fiber rear wing and extended front corner splitters for better downforce.
Both the new Stryker Green and Grand Touring Package will be offered as options for the 2014 SRT Viper. The GT package will only be available with the Stryker Green or Venom Black exterior colors.
