A little tune goes a long way.
Mini has always had a strong and loyal following, and still does today. The Mini Cooper S is no exception, and is a favorite amongst automotive enthusiasts. Superchips has taken the R56 Mini Cooper S a step further with a new “Phase Two” ECU Remap.
Powering the nimble Mini Cooper S is an award-winning 1.6-liter BMW/PSA turbocharged inline-four that makes a respectable 181 bhp and 177 lb-ft. of torque. Superchips analyzed the stock Bosch MED 17 ECU and put the R56 through numerous dyno and road testing. The result was the “Phase Two” ECU remap, which boosts power by 25 bhp at 5,444 RPM for a total of 206 bhp. Torque also rises by 23.6 lb-ft. (32 Nm) at 3,765 RPM. The new Phase Two ECU tune from Superchips isn’t all about peak power though; the increase can be felt throughout the rev range, beginning at just 2,000 RPM.
The Phase Two ECU tune from Superchips for the R56 Mini Cooper S is available for £455.00 (+/- 700 USD), including VAT at 20%, at any one of the 80 Superchips performance centers. The conversion also comes with a 12 month/30,000 mile supplementary full-vehicle warranty. The impressive gas mileage of the R56 Mini Cooper S is unchanged by the conversion.
