The TechArt GT Street RS added another trophy to its mantle after annihilating the former lap record at the Sachsenring racetrack.
Located in Saxony, Germany, the Sachsenring Circuit is a 14-turn, 2.28-mile track that features the annual German Motorcycle Grand Prix. The TechArt GT Street RS was able to achieve a lap time of just 1:31.94 minutes, demolishing the previous record held by the Lamborghini Murciélago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce by 4.47 seconds. Prior to the record-breaking drive, the two-time winner of the AutoBild SPORTSCARS 2008 and 2009 Tuner Cup Grand Prix showcased its superior performance by achieving a 3.5 second 0-62 mph sprint, and a 0-62 mph braking distance of just 108 ft.
The TechArt Porsche GT Street RS is a savage beast, based on the acclaimed Porsche 911 GT2. Over 700 hp and 634 lb-ft. of torque are sent to the rear wheels, plastering rubber onto the tarmac as it screams to a top speed of 210 mph. The twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter engine receives modified turbochargers, specially developed intercoolers, a sport air filter, enlarged carbon intake manifolds, and a new sport exhaust system with high-performance headers.
To keep the GT Street RS planted to the road numerous aerodynamic modifications have been made. A front apron with carbon spoiler, carbon diffuser, rear spoiler, and numerous air ducts create 22 lbs. of downforce on each axle at 87 mph. Completing the ferocious look of the GT Street RS are a set of TechArt’s Formula III forged wheels wearing Michelin Pilot Sport Cup Plus tires.
The interior of the GT Street RS is entirely customizable and built to order, featuring an array of ornamental trim, full leather upholstery, and ornamental color seams. A number of interior options are also available such as a three-spoke sports steering wheel, aluminum pedals, or illuminated doorstep trim with individual logos.
The TechArt GT Street was crowned the winner of both the 2008 Tuner Grand Prix GT Class and 2009 Tuner Grand Prix GT Turbo Class, and now holds the title for the fastest lap time at the Sachsenring racetrack.
